Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been signed by Geelong, with the deal confirmed on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been long rumoured for the Cats after Essendon placed a firm price on the defender. Essendon were not budging on their valuation throughout the trade period.

The agreed trade gives Geelong an experienced backman while Essendon receives Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is a multi-position player who bolsters the Essendon list heading into the upcoming year.
