Kevin McCloud and his long-running renovation series Grand Designs are drawing attention this week following a clutch of recent developments. An Edinburgh couple is currently living in a caravan while their ambitious Grand Designs build progresses, and one Grand Designs subject hit trouble after a driving test centre was demolished to clear land for a family home.

McCloud also spoke to The Times about his personal life away from the camera, revealing he once owned a Land Rover that was powered by chip fat. The show continues to draw attention in Australia and the UK for the ambition behind its builds and the real-life drama that accompanies them.
