The cast of The Rookie has said sorry for the abrupt cliffhanger ending to Season 8. Viewers had been left hanging after the last scene cut off. Creator Alexi Hawley said at a fan event that Season 9's premiere will be longer than usual. Nathan Fillion said that filming for Season Nine gets underway on August 5. At the same time, a first look of a fresh scene shot in Chenford was post online before the new season.
